Superintendent Anna Shepherd asks everyone to join us in recognizing our outstanding school counselors during National School Counseling Week, February 7-11, 2022. This week helps focus attention on the unique contribution of school counselors and how students are empowered because of the work of these counselors.
Superintendent Shepherd says, “National School Counseling Week highlights the impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career. This year’s theme is “Better Together” and we are definitely “Better Together” when our school counselors, administrators, teachers, support staff, families, community members and students are all working toward the goal of student success!”
In Floyd County, we want to recognize the following counselors:
Kayla McKinney, AMS
Sandy Hackett, AES
Mallory Roberts, BLES
Justin Akers, BLHS
Amanda Kidd, DACE
Nikki Queen-Gilliam, FCHS
Kolby Huff, JMS
Kim Reed, MVES
Charla Hopkins, PES
Amy Hughes, PHS
Susan Damron, SFES

Superintendent Shepherd comments, “School Counselors serve students as they help them with educational and personal issues in order to remove barriers to success and we’re so happy to have one in every school. The role that counselors can play in a student’s life is tremendous and we appreciate all that they do for our children.”
Shepherd concludes saying, “We also want to give a special thanks to County Judge Executive Robbie Williams for his proclamation deeming February 7-11, 2022 as National School Counseling Week in Floyd County.
