Superintendent Anna Shepherd chose National School Psychology Week to introduce Morgan Taylor, one of our school psychologists for Floyd County Schools.
Superintendent Shepherd comments, “We are excited to have Morgan working with us. Her experience and education impressed us from the start but seeing her now in her role for a few months has impressed us more. She, along with our senior school psychologist Bonita Dailey, make a great team and a great support for all of our schools.”
Morgan has been a school psychologist for 13 years. She graduated from Eastern Kentucky University and went on to earn a Master’s Degree in General Psychology and a Specialist Degree in School Psychology. She has worked in the Lee County School System in Jonesville, Virginia and as the school psychologist for Letcher County Public Schools in Whitesburg for the last 12 years.
Morgan is a Nationally Certified School Psychologist and a Certified Trauma Informed Care Trainer. She says, “I enjoy working one-on-one with students to see how they learn best and how to break down any barriers of learning they may have.” When asked what was a factor in her decision to come to Floyd County Schools, Morgan says, “I moved here to Floyd County to be closer to my family. So far I have been warmly welcomed and I am excited to continue to get to know the community, as well as the students and staff in this new district.”
Morgan and her 9 year-old daughter Cali live with their two dogs and cat in Prestonsburg. Morgan and Cali enjoy spending time together and spending time with their extended family. They love traveling, shopping, cooking, and watching movies.
Superintendent Shepherd closes by saying, “We thought National School Psychology Week was the perfect time to formally introduce Morgan and bring attention to the critical work our school psychologists do. These folks help children by supporting their abilities to learn, by helping their teachers help support their students, by helping the families better support their child’s learning, and more.
